We are located on Highway 6 at Espanola, 30 minutes north of Manitoulin Island through the LaCloche mountains, and 45 minutes west of Sudbury.

Welcome to Lake Apsey Resort... a Northern Ontario housekeeping cottage and campground Resort.

The Resort is nestled in a warm bay on the shoreline of beautiful Lake Apsey. Relax in your own private housekeeping cottage or at the lakeside campground.

Take an early morning fishing trip, then spend the rest of the day on the warm sandy beach, build sand castles, or take a dip in the lake.

With the great fishing, sandy beach and swimming area, boating, and hiking trails, it is the perfect place for your family vacation or fishing trip.

Bring your own boat, or take advantage of our boat and motor rentals. We also have paddle-boat and canoe rentals.

Lake Apsey has Northern Pike, Pickerel (Walleye), Perch, Smallmouth Bass and Largemouth Bass, and various Pan Fish, all waiting for you. There is a fish cleaning station and freezer storage for your convenience.

We are located at Espanola, just north of Manitoulin Island and the LaCloche mountains, in Rainbow Country.

Lake Apsey Resort is in a very quiet area, just south of Espanola, and close to all amenities. Domtar has free tours of the forests and the mill in the summer months. Take a day trip to Manitoulin Island through the beautiful LaCloche mountains, or to Sudbury, where you will find Science North and the new Dynamic Earth, where you can go underground and discover the history of mining.

The large comfortable housekeeping cottages are more than just cabins. All have lake views, and are only steps to the lake. They are fully equipped, with sofa beds, ceiling fans, full-size fridge and stove, queen and double beds, 3 piece bathrooms, picnic tables, lawn chairs, and propane barbeques.

The Lakeside Campground has both Tent and RV sites. Sandy beach, shallow swimming area, raft-mounted pool slide in the lake, and playground, (teeter-totter, swings and slide). Great for the little ones!

There is a clean central washhouse with hot showers and flush toilets. Most sites have electrical and water hook-ups, and a dump station is available.

Cottages

Large, clean housekeeping cottages in Espanola, Northern Ontario. You don't have to give up the comforts of home, when you vacation in one of our cottages at Lake Apsey Resort. A wonderful escape from the city, while keeping the hot shower, the TV, (for those rainy days) and a comfortable bed to collapse into at the end of the day. Whether you spend your day fishing, playing on the beach and swimming, or just lazing, we think you will enjoy our cottage resort. There is plenty of sunshine and warm water to swim in. Explore our 90 acres of unspoiled forest, watch for wildlife, and don't forget your camera!

For your convenience, there is a store with ice, ice cream, chips, chocolate bars, pop, shirts, gift items, and used books. Anything else you may need is only minutes away in Espanola, including a hospital, restaurants, vet, repair shops, and, of course, Tim Horton's and McDonalds.

Pets are welcome at Lake Apsey Resort, but we ask that they be kept on a leash when outside. Please do not leave them alone in the cottage, and we would appreciate you cleaning up after them. In consideration of our other guests, we ask that you keep them off of the beach and out of the swimming area

Cottage #1 is at the waters edge, with it's own private dock. The other four cottages rest on the hillside overlooking the splendor of Lake Apsey, only steps from the beach and lake. Cottage #4 and cottage # 5 are the largest cottages and will sleep 7.

Each housekeeping cottage offers the following amenities:

Cottage # 5

Located on the upper bench, overlooking the playground and beach, this is the end cottage. Newly redecorated, it has 2 bedrooms, with a queen bed in one, and a double and single bed in the other. With the separate living room providing a 3rd bedroom option, this is an ideal family cottage.

Cottage #4

This family cottage is located on the upper bench, overlooking the playground and beach. It has 2 bedrooms with a queen bed in one, the other having a double and a single bed. The living room can be closed off for a 3rd bedroom. (7 can sleep comfortably in this cottage).

Cottage #3

This 1 bedroom cottage has been redecorated. It has a double bed, and there is also a double sofa bed in the living room. Great screened-in porch with a lovely view of the lake. This is the perfect smaller cottage with lots of character.

Cottage #2

Only steps from the lake, Cottage #2 has 2 bedrooms, both with double beds. Completely redecorated and includes satellite TV. This is a very comfortable spacious cottage with a wonderful lake view.

Cottage #1

Situated right beside the lake, this housekeeping cottage has 2 bedrooms, with a double bed in one and a queen bed in the other. There is a patio door leading to a full-length deck with it's own private dock. Totally redecorated, and with satellite TV!

RV's & Camping

Lake Apsey Resort's family campground, with beautiful tent and RV sites along the lakefront. The serviced sites have hydro and water hook-ups and central dump station. There is a picnic table and fire pit at each site, with firewood available. Our washrooms are kept very clean, and have flush toilets and free hot showers. With both tent sites and RV sites, there is a place for you, no matter what your camping pleasure. We also have a few out-of-the-way sites on the hill for those who like a little more privacy.

The sandy beach with playground, and raft-mounted pool slide, is a favorite for children of all ages. The water is shallow with no drop-offs, great for the little ones. Whether you swim, fish, or just laze in the sun, we are sure you will love it here as much as we do!

Try your hand at building the perfect sandcastle, or take a romantic sunset cruise. Bring your own boat, or take advantage of the boats, motors, canoes and paddleboats we have for rent.

Fishing

Lake Apsey Resort, where the fish fight for your hook!

An abundance of fish, including Northern Pike, Pickerel (Walleye), Perch, Largemouth Bass and Smallmouth Bass, and various Pan Fish, all thrive in Lake Apsey. You can bring your own boat, or you can rent a boat and motor from us. Worms, Gas and Oil, and Freezer storage are available at the Resort. There is also a fish cleaning station, docks and a boat launch.

Fishing Licences, Motor repair, Bait, and Tackle are available in Espanola, just a few minutes away.

Lake Apsey is a 5 mile spring fed lake, very picturesque, and with some of the best fishing in the area.
