Dear Rental Enquirer: Welcome, and thank you for your interest in my rental lakefront cottage in Bayfield, Ontario, called Tamarack. I take great pleasure in sharing this unique beachfront property information with you. There are rental cottages that are much more spectacular of course, but this place is unique, and has its own very special space in a very honest and simple country way. Lakefront Cottage Living Room Bayfield Ontario Tamarack Rental Cottage on Lake Huron

Some pictures have been taken with a wide-angle lens that can result in making the rooms appear bigger than what they really are. The living room is close to 20 x 24. There is a VCR and DVD player in the living room and an AM-FM radio in the kitchen. There is no TV reception. You can bring your own portable TV.

Tamarack lakefront cottage was built around 1940 in Bayfield Ontario, and now one and a half stories are added which triples the floor space. There is also a veranda. The floors are pine, and the walls in the living room are red cedar from British Columbia.

On the ground floor, in the new addition, the ceiling is supported by exposed wood beams from an old house near the Talbot Trail, near Lake Erie. The wide pine floors are from a very early 1800 magistrate’s Georgian house in Ingersoll Ontario and the front door and entrance I think are also from near the historic Talbot Trail.

Tamarack Cottage Bedroom 1 - Bayfield Ontario.

We make up one queen sized poster bed for the main bedroom and a three-quarter bed for the second bedroom with relaxing, clean white sheets, pillows and a supply of blankets. For extra sleeping there are single foam mattresses stored under the bed(s). I do not supply any bedding for these.

Bayfield Ontario

Bayfield Ontario is approximately one hour and 15 minutes north west of London Ontario between Grand Bend and Goderich on the shoreline of Lake Huron. I think of it as a smaller version of Niagara On The Lake… granted a lot smaller, but it has its own special charm.

There is a main street shopping area with lovely shops, excellent restaurants and two lovely circa 1800's Inns… Both of these wonderful old time establishments have double-decker verandas and areas for eating outside.

There is also a restaurant with deck overlooking the harbor. This is located on the north side of the bridge. There are few paved sidewalks but grassy walkways and huge trees instead. Many of the homes and cottages have retained their nostalgic 30’s quaint look.

Of course, Bayfield Ontario is most renown in the region for its mariner where boats up to schooner size can always be seen paraded along its wooden quays. Sailing is a favourite pastime in the summer months and visitors just sail in from all parts of Lake Huron and the Great lakes.
