Nothing feels better then a good night's sleep in the north. The air is so fresh that you feel great when you wake up in the morning. To make things better, you can make yourself a coffee and sit outside on the front porch, overlooking the lake as the sun warms up the morning.

Timerlane Rustic Lodges has 11 cabins all on or close to the water with beautiful views of the lake. We have three sizes to choose from. There are 2, 3 and 4 bedroom cabins which are rustic but fully maintained and very clean.

All cabins are fully furnished and are equipped with refrigerators, microwave oven, coffee makers, wet bars and private bathrooms. All towels and linens are supplied and freshened daily.

All cabins have a porch with chairs, hot and cold running water, private bathroom, thermostatically controlled propane heating, frost-free refrigerator, microwave oven, coffee maker, bar sink, and the customary bedding, towels, and bathroom amenities are all supplied. Maid service is provided daily.

Fishing Manitoulin Island

The Lodge is on Lake Manitou, the largest lake on Manitoulin Island. It's about 20 miles long with 65 miles of undeveloped and scenic shoreline. The lake is spring fed, crystal clear, and abounds with plenty of sport fish. The primary species are Lake Trout, Jumbo Perch, Smallmouth Bass and Northern Pike with good Walleye fishing in the smaller lakes in the area.

The best times are May and June for Perch and shallow Lake Trout, late May and early June for Pike, late June and into July for Smallmouth, Perch, and deep Lake Trout. September and early October are good for Whitefish and some of the best Jumbo Perch and Smallmouth Bass fishing you'll find anywhere.

What about the summer months? There is always good "fun fishing" for kids of all ages in the summer. Charters can also be arranged for some terrific Chinook and Rainbow fishing on the Big Water (Lake Huron surrounds Manitoulin Island). Coho and Kokanee are occasionally taken from the lake but not as frequently as Chinook (King) and Rainbows (Steelhead). We have our own guides right at the Lodge to help you find those "hot spots" here on Manitou.

Our fleet of Fishing Boats and Pontoon Boats is second to none anywhere on Manitoulin Island! Custom-built boats, comfortable back-support seats, electric start motors, as well as attentive and personal service from the Harbour Master (Uncle Bill!). You are also welcome to bring your own boat.

There are many other activities for all ages beside fishing. Below is a breakdown of what we offer.

BONFIRE: Every night we have a big bonfire down by the shore and all the guests are welcome to sit around, relax and meet the other quests. This is a prime time to meet people from other countries, talk about the fishing and the hot-spots or just relax and have fun.

CYCLING: Many people bring their mountain bikes and take advantage of trails and dirt roads in the area. We also have guests who like to take off down the highway and cycle along the lakes and into some of the tiny villages in the area.

HIKING: We have hiking trails in the area where you can explore the shoreline of the lake and see some of the local wildlife which includes a large deer population. It's a great way to work off your dinner and photograph wildlife in the area. A nice walk is very relaxing. There are over 200 acres to explore.

RECREATION HALL: We have a recreation hall where guest can play Ping-Pong, Pool, Darts or get a card game going. We also have a satellite dish and television if you are worried about missing the big game.

GOLF: We have a 9 hole putting course for you to practice your putting and chipping. If you are more adventurous, there are full golf courses on the island that you can drive to.

SWIMMING: The lake is crystal clear and excellent for swimming and scuba diving. We have a small beach for young children and also our swimming point with a floating swimmers' raft where you can relax and get a nice suntan.
